Les Steckel's football coaching career spans 32 years, with 23 of those in the National Football League. His NFL career began in 1978 and includes his roles as offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans, whom he helped guide to Super Bowl XXXIV (2000), as well as the New England Patriots in SuperBowl XX (1985). Les was named head coach of the Minnesota Vikings in 1984 and became one of the youngest head coaches in history. He has also served as offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and as a position coach for the San Francisco 49ers, the Denver Broncos, the Houston Oilers and the Buffalo Bills. Les is currently national president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the nation's leading ministry to student athletes and coaches. Les' involvement with FCA dates back to 1972 when as a young college coach he attended his first FCA conference. From the success of being one of the youngest coaches in the NFL, to the failure of watching his team fall one yard short of a Super Bowl victory, Coach Steckel has seen his share of ups and downs. He listened with ears of faith past the loud rumblings of defeat and loss. Through the power of belief and prayer, he was transformed by God's grace. Time and time again God brought true victory out of Les' defeats and helped him ultimately win his dream game.
