Joey Potter
Director of International
Missions
Joey begins his fifth year with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as Director of Missions. Joey has been a veteran youth pastor who has been ministering to middle, high school, and college age students for almost 29 years. All of the years of ministry, Joey has partnered w/ the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He serves as the Director of Missions for FCA and lives in Fayette County,GA, with his wife Kathy. Prior to that, he served as the High School and College Age Youth Pastor four different churches in Tennessee, Washington, Maryland, and Florida.
“I love Coaches/Teachers and desire to see them reach their purpose and mission in life in serving Christ thru their job. I am most excited about the students who are influenced by our Coaches/Teachers than anyone else [outside their families] to excel in what God has gifted them to do,“ Potter stated, "The FCA Vision To see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.”
Focusing time and energy on creating mission projects and trips for Coaches, Teams, and Athletes is what he enjoys the most about being a Director of Missions, because, according to him, that is when “faith development begins in Coaches and Athletes students living life out on the field, ball-courts, schools of other countries.”
The philosophy of Director of Missions is serving Coaches, Teams, and Schools thru missions! We focus on “why” we do serving, FCA mission trips, and FCA Conferences/Camps/Retreat instead of ‘how’. Fun and exciting can happen anywhere, but authentic, life-changing experiences happen only when we understand why we are doing what we are doing,”
Potter said. “As creditable as our school system is about a shaping a student’s purpose, reasoning, and outcome, every Coach and Teacher should also be accountable to the end product of what that student will look like spiritually when they graduate.”
As Director of International Missions role, according to him, is to “serve and disciple to make more disciples to serve.” Therefore, he says, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes “will seek to serve and to reach out to Coaches, Athletes, and Teachers who have no relationship with God or Christ and then begin a discipleship journey for life.”
FCA International Missions will focus on every Intentional Areas for International Mission Fields as FCA Missions partners with Coaches/Team/Missionaries to any and every country for Christ.
FCA Missions is looking for coaches/teams/athletes to help serve with us in one of these locations in the world who are asking for our help in sharing the gospel of Christ thru Coaches, Athletes, Teams, athletics and teams. Please contact us if you are interested!
